Well, I finally got a lever action Marlin in 35 Remington and now I'm trying to figure out what to put on it for a scope. I was looking at the Leupold VX-2 in 1-4x20. Any recommendations would be great. Thanks!

Hard to beat a Leupold 1-4x20, 1.5-5x20, 2.5x20, Weaver K2.5, K3, V4.5 or similar straight tube scope for a Marlin 35.
Always remember that you are unique, just like everyone else.

the vx2 1-4x20 is almost perfect. a good cheaper alternative is the bushnell banner 1.5-4.5x32. about 1/3 the price of the vx2. i also have some marlin shorties with the nikon monarch 1.5-4.5x20 but it is discontinued. you can find good used ones for around $150 if you're patient. careful of the retical though because they are technically a shotgun scope and some came with the turkey retical. still useable in thick conditions but not as precise of a sighting plane. i use talley lightweights on all my marlins too. good solid mounts. ring and base all in one.

Mine wears a VX-II 2-7x33 with a #4 reticle. IMHO this is an awesome woods rig. Of course my BLR .358 Win. wears a 2-7 also. Albeit a Monarch 2-7x32. Never could warm up to the 1-4's although, I have used the 1.5-5's some and would again.

You can't beat a Leupold. But I shoot Hornady Leverevolution and use the Cabelas scope calibrated for the ammo. I like it so far (especially for a $100 scope).

Any of the scout scopes that leave all aspects of ones action fully accessible.

Any good straight 4X is great, I have a 1972 336-35rem and it has always worn a Redfield 4X widfield. Don't need any more power than that. A 1-4 Leupold would be great also.

Thanks for the reply guys. I picked up a Leupold VariX-2 1-4x20 from a classified add I posted here. I do love this site and I think this scope will look good sitting on top my rifle. Here are some photos of the scope and I will get some photos of the combo once I get it mounted:
