If someone was skilled at splicing stuff together, there's no shortage of raw material to make up a "news video" to report anything you want it to claim.

I'm not saying that's the case here, and I'm glad Bob posted it, but it doesn't smell all that fresh.

My gut tells me William's broadcast is yet another example of reckless reporting.

Because his mother most likely had the weapons locked in a safe and deviant nut job most likely put a hidden web cam facing the safe, so that he could learn the combo. He probably wanted to wipe the video.

I recommend that those who know how to do it hotlink the newsclip to their representatives AND their Senators regardless of party affiliations. That way they can be justly accused of supporting a baldfaced LIE if they choose to follow the fools path. That would be a nice public skinning.

Why is the alleged number of guns the murderer had important? What is important is that a murderer murdered 26 people and he alone was responsible for his crimes, not the guns he used.

If the murderer had murdered 26 people with a machete, the press would have reported that the murderer used to shoot guns.

I do like how Barnie Fife acts like he's never touched a shotgun before. And this was their "expert", one assumes.

Lanza was withdrawn and secretive. Those two things go hand in hand and bottom line he wanted to cover up his past. That's the motive for doing it but it remains to be seen what exactly he wanted to hide. It wouldn't have to be something sinister but just embarrassing.

It's possible that Simple Jack hadn't already planned his suicide. I think most people, even whacked nut jobs would have trouble going through with something like this, if they were 100% sure they were dying. Even a dysfunctional nut job like this punk, probably recognized the gravity of his actions as the adrenaline started to wear off.

Rest assured the press will not dwell on the facts if they ever do surface. Even in this instance, their negative bias will still be focused on black rifles.

In today's world there's truly a race to report and few if any bother to verify their supposed facts. Errors, retractions, or apologies will most likely never show up, and if they do they'll be in fine print somewhere on page 12. Had a child come running out of the school screaming that the world was flat it would have made the headlines.

On 9-11 there were initial reports of 20 or 30,000 deaths/injuries. Even from my west coast view, I did not think that possible. Yes, the buildings might have had that capacity, but the masses did not stay at their desks on the lower floors as the events unfolded.

I think any 9 year old from one of our hunter ed classes could have done a walk through and correctly quantified the type of arm, it's action, and it's location there in Ct.

Also, I was curious at that first reporting on how a medical examiner would know from a cursory look at bodies that a rife was responsible. Such knowledge would have required some retained slugs at least.

The press will interview anyone and everyone and blindly accept and publish everything said. There are too many agencies involved, and each is dispersing it's own version. In about a week I would hope that someone will winnow through the garbage and present the facts. One could write a book on all the misrepresentations kicked out. It would indeed be nice if folks could be held accountable for their reporting errors.
