OO - Can't disagree with you at all. Sorry, I sure didn't mean to imply that it was the colleges or universities driving the money train or getting a big payoff because of post season games. Indeed, it is the bowl organizers and the TV market making the big share of the bucks taken in for the post-season games. The colleges and universities get some national publicity for their teams and "educational" prowess, but as Iowa found out, it ain't free.
When I was in college, back in the stone ages, a student ticket for the entire season of home football games was $16 - and Nebraska won 2 National Championships my first two years there. When our son enrolled there in 1995, freshmen couldn't even get season tickets at all. In the 21 years between my graduation and our son's enrollment they had expanded the stadium by 20-30,000 seats, too. Last I heard my brother talk about going to a game in Lincoln, the total cost (for 2) was in excess of $400 (tickets, parking, travel expenses, snacks at the stadium) and they didn't stay overnight. I have better things to spend my money on, especially since most of the games I want to see are on the tube, regardless of who is playing. No wonder I haven't been to a game since 1983 or thereabouts.
JMHO . . .

This nightmare is only minimized by the fact I'm sitting in a end zone box tomorrow night.
Dang lucky YOU! That place will be electric! Not sure I like the time change. Especially, knowing the Bears and Vikings situation. I was going to come back up for it but SC is giving us taxpayers 3 free days of being in the woods first of January. Hey Denny, congrats on the BSU win. That was a good game.

I was going to bail because of that time change. Gonna be one of those 2am mornings, for sure.
Just couldn't pass on a opportunity for a heated box with servers and our own bathroom.

Yet another team that looks like it doesn't really care if it is there and probably practiced the same way. I thought these games were entertaining to you, dad. They are - given my druthers, I would like to see a real effort made to pair up teams that look to be evenly matched (even then, there is no guarantee that both teams will come to play), but a college football game is a college football game and I enjoy watching; I know I certainly will miss them when the bowl season is over.

The New York shytstripe bowl is a poster child for why there are too many bowl games.
How do you excite a team that they've won a trip to New York for the bowl season?
"we're going where? Wait...what? You're kidding, right coach?" Even better---"we're going to play football at Yankee Stadium boys!" They should fire whomever's running the clock 'cos he must be drunk.

I love college football too. I just don't care anything about watching two pisspoor teams play. Have a good holiday!

It sucks, but I'll hold up OK. Seemed like a 3 week season this year. Over too soon.

Texas is the biggest bunch of underachievers in NCAA football.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.
