Pros and cons on the Ruger.

Input appreciated.

Only two cons to a Ruger Hawkeye:
1) If you have to bed it, it's a PITA, but ND did a really good pictorial about it on these forums and
2) You WILL need to have the trigger adjusted. its better than the old ones, but not good enough...have that done when you punch it out.

Otherwise I couldnt say a bad thing about a Ruger...I see them get more heavy use and abuse in this country, and Alaska that all others put together...

Bedding is a given, as is likely a replacement bang switch.

schit......

Buy. Run as is in SAAMI. 223.

Open bolt face down the road if the need arises. Still a LH stainless CRF action that will never break.

If he's gonna poke schit with a .22 it's going to be scooting.

Nope, not yet. It's been snowing a lot here lately and I haven't made it to the range yet. Hopefully make it there soon.

Would be inclined to buy now, punch it later if the desire lingers. Less aggravation to rebarrel a 700 perhaps, dunno about that. Thinking the 700 would be cheaper too, but not entirely certain about that either.

I like Bill Ruger's philosophy about production gun design and a number of other things as well, just never owned one that didn't need tweakin' along the way to make it run, regardless of action or chamber. Being past the production line phase of life, leaves me to fall back on the 700 SUX and a fella can do worse than that from the start. Balancing loot vs. performance, I don't think you'll do much better either.

Vanilla .22-250s ain't all that vanilla after all...

But they are coming out with a Model 51 this year. Repeater in the 223 family. 223AI and 6x45 are two of their standard chamberings. They will twist to your standards on a custom order.

Thank you sir for your timely response. Now GFY.

Are repeaters something new to their line of rifles?

Travis

Took me while to respond....been out breaking in my new Ruger American Rifle.

The 51 is new. They've not had a 223 repeater. You'll need one of these....

My wife had stoppers custom made because my pecker is so long. Like those ones you use on hydraulic cylinders.

Same here, mine was 13.5 with no mention of spacers....
