Are you talking about the Neuse River?

No, it is short river from Jacksonville, nc to the Atlantic ocean about 30 miles South of more head city and the same roughly north of Wilmington, nc
There are fools and damn fools, which one are you?

As I sit here in Charlotte, between the New River I canoe and catch smallmouth bass in and yours, I will say I hear very little about the fishing in the coastal New River . There seem to be no local reports in the CLT, RDU, or ILM papers and not much on the internet. As always, look for deep holes in the main channel, cut off sections and any structure such as piers, etc. depending on target species. Good luck!

I've fished all up and down that river with little-to-no success. Probably, should go with someone who knows how to fish it. I learned that the expensive way on the Chesapeake Bay.

I grew up on the New River in Virginia. It starts from the mts of NC and flows North through Va into WV. Never heard of another New River. Interesting.

Plan on going to the Fishing Expo at Wilmington Expo center at the Saltwater fishing school 16 March. Cost is $150, but I walked out with two rods, one reel and at least 10 hard lure baits and 6-6 packs of soft baits as door prizes and give aways. Plus free years subscription ot NC Sportsman magazine. Well worth the time and money. Guides from all over eastern NC give 1 hr discussions in breakout seminar rooms, lessons learned, how to, where etc for their specialty, such as trout, flounder, redfish, deep sea trolling, grouper etc. you pick which ones you want to go to and you get 8 hours worth. I am going back again this year. 800-538-4355 or www.northcarolinasportsman.com to register

Are you up river or close enough to get to the waterway? I know the waterway areas pretty well.
