This rifle would most likely be used more for coyotes and smaller critters I do not need to draw an expensive non-resident tag for.

So... 25-06 or a .243? grin

If I am lucky enough to draw a tag I would bring my Ruger along for a deer or elk... This is turning more into coyote rifle than anything.

Well now I am thinking a .243 with 80 grain SP's will be hell on coyotes on public land near the AFB's...

Don't let the Grand Poobah fool you. He loves to get in the closet and fondle his 270 while adorned only in the leopard print undy's. powdr

Don't let any of 'em bs you. They'd have to be mentally lacking not to admit the .270 in a damn fine cartridge. I have 3 .308 cals(.300 WM, 30/06 and .308 Win), but my .270 in my go to rifle.

Besides, as far as coyotes go, a .270 will chuck a 90gr pill at 3600 fps(according to Hodgdon)...

Yeah, but my old .270 never shot anything less than a 130 well.
