I will join the boycott along with all of my hunting buddies who go every year.

Thanks for posting the list of boycotting vendors. They will get my support by checking with them FIRST before making any future purchases.

We need to stick together and see this through. If not - the whole country will follow the lead of NYS! It's time for unity.

Due to Reed Exhibitions' refusal to reconsider their decision to ban Modern Sporting Rifles from the February 2-10 Eastern Sports Show in Harrisburg, PA, the National Rifle Association has decided to withdraw from the show. We had called on Reed Exhibitions to reconsider their decision; unfortunately they have steadfastly refused to do so. As a result, the NRA will not be participating in the upcoming show in Harrisburg or in any other shows hosted by Reed Exhibitions that maintain this policy. We are disappointed that Reed Exhibitions has ignored the concerns expressed by attendees, the outdoor industry and the NRA in not reconsidering their position to ban the display of Modern Sporting Rifles.

I hope you have fun with you. TO hell with anything and anyone who supports crap like this. You, sir, are a bigger enemy to our rights than those who are blatantly trying to steal them.

Just because I want to go to a show and talk to some African PH's about what it will take to get a future safari booked? Because I want to talk face to face with some PH's that I don't get to talk to anywhere else I'm an enemy of the 2nd A? I'll make you a deal. If you can offer me a safari package in Africa at a reasonable price and tell me the things I will need to bring to hunt your animals, well then I won't go to the ESOS.

The reason you are going has nothing to do with my statement, which I still stand behind.

This statement;
"For me it is a hunting/fishing show anyway and AR's have little to do with all that." is what spurned me to say what I did. Based on that, yes, you are an enemy of the worst sort.

That is 'bout the extent of it!

I was just saying I that AR's weren't a big part of the show anyway and that's not why I was going. What I didn't know was that Reed apparently has been promoting an entire hall devoted to AR rifles since last November. Even though AR's have had little to do with the show in the past apparently this year they were going to play a big role in the show. And since 307 out of 1,200 total vendors have already pulled out of the show I've decided it's not worth the price of admission so you can unbutton your collar or loosen your shoelaces or whatever you need to do.

Reed Exhibitions has decided to postpone, for now, the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show given the controversy surrounding its decision to limit the sale or display of modern sporting rifles (also called ARs) at the event. The show was scheduled to take place February 2-10 in Harrisburg, PA.

�Our original decision not to include certain products in the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show this year was made in order to preserve the event�s historical focus on the hunting and fishing traditions enjoyed by American families,� said Chet Burchett, Reed Exhibitions President for the Americas. �In the current climate, we felt that the presence of MSRs would distract from the theme of hunting and fishing, disrupting the broader experience of our guests. This was intended simply as a product decision, of the type event organizers need to make every day.

Was planning on a day at the show as a stop on my way south for a few weeks, as I literally drive right by the place. I am going to drive right by. Will spend a day in Waples Mills instead.
Still coming to terms with what has happened to us here in NY, but it ain't looking pretty. There was not a single public hearing. Here in the (politically invisible) upstate area, we are still in shock.
Example: Nosler's SPS will not ship component bullets to NY at the moment.
It is likely that this host of restrictions may kill all of the small gun shops, not much left to sell and a lot more expense to sell it. Sad stuff.

fishdog52.Have you or anyone contacted the NRA? See what they may be planning for NY? This may be the time to fight these a-holes(in court). This sweeping measure should not be allowed to stand without a fight. Maybe even a court ordered injunction to stop this from becoming law in the short term. Also I hope this helps folks realize that they had better become NRA members NOW because this stuff isn't going to slow down. Join today. Supporting them with $$$ every year is a small price to pay as compared to what happened or may happen. Just my 2 cents.

I have. The state asssociation , in conjunction with the NRA, have engaged legal review, currently under way. Interesting to note, they have requested that noone initiate any action until they complete their review.
One of my major concerns is these situations is just what will be next. For instance, most pistol permits in NYS do not expire, while the SAFE act will require them to be review, for free, every 5 yrs. There has been a bill proposed each and every year since 09 to require annual review, for a fee, plus another fee for each and every gun on your permit.
Further, I have sent notes (regular mail and email) detailing my stance to every one of appropriate political leaders (painful to type that) from Obama down to my local state legislator.
Lastly, I would encourage everyone to visit Rugers website. They have put together an easy way to find each of the legislators, federal and state, across the country. They have also put together a form letter that, if you like it, can be sent each of your legislators with minimal effort on your part.

Ruger's form letter is effective, too. I received a reply from both of my senators (small s on purpose) because of it. They don't give a rat's azz what I think, but at least they know I'm not in agreement with their lib agendas.

+10 liliysdad, that is not the only narrowminded stupid statements Moosemike has posted since 12/14 on gun rights ,AR's etc. Pennsylvania doesn't let the public use semi autos for deer hunting so I guess he don't think anybody else should have them either. Magnum Man
