Does any one have a picture of a Remington sporter contour barrel sitting in a McMillan Mountain Rifle stock. I am looking for a picture showing what the barrel looks like in the forearm area. Trying to see how much meat is left in the forearm of the stock. Thanks for the help.

I have one with a Savage sporter contour, which is smaller than the M700 sporter. Doesn't leave much room on each side of the barrel.

I've had a #2 Pac-nor in that MR stock and it is about as big as I'd want to go. It looked fine and not over-stuffed. A standard Rem sporter would be fine in my book, going to a mag contour would be top-end and more akin to the #2 PN. The MR remains my favorite handle for anything below a magnum contour.

You might google the 700 LS in 221 Fireball. If memory serves, it was a laminated MR handle with factory sporter barrel. I bought a factory-new laminated MR stock as a take-off and it must have come off of one of those rifles, as it was cut for the standard sporter, not the pencil MR contour.

I've yet to bed this one so the barrel is not perfectly centered in the channel but you get the idea..

I haven't got my barreled action from the smith yet but my mt rifle is inletted for a #2 shilen, not much room left.
