I'm not telling the OP what to do here, but... How do you think the friend would feel about you later down the line if he finds you that you knew about this and didn't tell him much earlier? Well there is another side. I once was in this position and I told my friend, I thought for sure he'd send her packing. But he didn't, and instead he swallowed his pride. Well the fact that I knew he couldn't man up made it unbearable for him to be around me, so it wasn't him and his wife that went separate ways. He really wasn't much of a friend then.

If a buddy of mine saw or heard of anything along those lines he'd tell me. The guys I consider friends would tell me, elsewise they would be acquaintences not friends. On a side note, why the fcuk would someone say they are going to Europe and then stay in the same town with their fling? Not only do you have to fake being in flipping Europe (don't they call each other?)you also highly risk getting seen.
She actually goes to the UK often, maybe she went and got back early, I don't know what to believe.

A passport check is your best confirmation of hard evidence. It will say if she ever went, or if she came back early.
If you tell your bud, tell him to confirm this first before he approaches here. He could also check credit/bank card receipts to confirm location.
