It was in American Hunter.

Don't remember the issue, but it was probably in the last half of 2012. And no, I don't want to sell it!

Thanks for all the suggestions folks.

I ordered the Vortex Viper HS 4-16x44 LR and should have it Monday or Tuesday. This scope just seemed to have all of the features I was looking for and JB's endorsement, among other's, carried weight.
Also ordered a set of Talley LW's.
I wanted to stick it in S&K's but my supplier was out of stock and I just couldn't bring myself to pay what S&K charges to order directly from them.

My Stiller Predator .270.

I did order a set of S&K 1" rings for my KS.

First impression of the Viper HS LR is very positive.

Nice- i just received my viper (same as yours) last friday. Overall i think it is a great buy. Wish the cross hairs were a little wider. I may consider their other models for my light weight rigs. Although i cant complain about my leupolds that are on them now. I am just experimenting with the M1 turret and so far the M1 seems really nice as well.

I'm looking forward to your review, Ken. Particularly if the 1/2" vertical adjustment gives you any problems.

nsagam, like you I had never had any scope over 14x. 2 months ago I bought the Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 PA wide plex from Cameralandny, Doug has this particular scope at $280.00. While its not my favorite reticle I have enjoyed the extra magnification and will probably try another here in the near future.

Enjoy

I'm interested in hearing how you like the Viper 4-16x. I seem to recall Koshkin doing a review on this scope, but it wasn't very favorable. Could be that my memory is fading though! Or Vortex has improved this model.

I like Vortex scopes and had a 2-7x Viper that took a beating on my lightweight 300 Win Mag. They seem like tough scopes, at least the 2-7x Viper. The tunnel vision was the only thing I didn't care for and although an overall great scope it was not as bright as I like in the timber late in the day.

The places where the coues live are often warm, even on winter afternoons. Mirage is probabally going to come into play. I'm not sure how much power you can use. I have had days in the high desert when my 15-45 spotter was near useless. I never used a scope with the top over 10X out there, so I can't advise you, but perhaps someone will chime in who has.
