Something newfangled, not burning charcoal. Merely 88 years old I swapped a later bolt onto it with a rare Lyman 54 sight, and I should now have a pretty classy old sporter. When I had a scope on it I found it was quite accurate, so it should be a fun rifle to shoot, and quite handy to carry.

It will be nice to hunt with a bunch of gentlemen who appreciate fine firearms with proper walnut andles and real blued steel... Waitaminute, Steelhead is comin too, ain't he. He will probably bring the bumblebee gun or some other horrific looking beast And then outshoot me with my pretty guns by a wide margin!

Yeah, sure..... but knowing you, you will bring one of your brightly colored anti guns and show me up just 'cause! I KNOW you can shoot a rifle pretty well.
Not worried, it is all in fun. And fun will be the order of the day and weekend for sure!

The suspense mounts. I can't wait to see what constitutes a "bumblebee gun" or what "brightly colored anti guns" are.

a little blue tape is about as colorful as my guns get. Unless you count Circa-swirly walnut.
I'm bidding on a 6.8 barrel & bolt. If I win and get it running might bring it instead of the AR-10, since it weighs 2 lbs less and is a mite easier to tote.

Please do bring the AR-10 anyway, so that I can try to trade yo out of it!

I am pretty sure Scott knows that my comments are all tongue in cheek and made with no malice. So long as someone is shooting or hunting, I don't care if thier weapon of choice is a slingshot!

You're welcome to shoot it, but I wouldn't get your hopes up on getting it It has a now-discontinued Rainier Arms/Shilen 18" Ultramatch barrel and Timney trigger. The accuracy with 150's was pretty startling the last time I shot it.

Thanks Dan. I've heard of 'firesticks' before; now I guess I've seen one. The suspense mounts. I can't wait to see what constitutes a "bumblebee gun" or what "brightly colored anti guns" are.

Was out testing stuff today. Fireformed some brass for the AR10, and shot a couple of the BP guns. The Hawken is ready, other than maybe tinkering a little with the powder charge. It put 3 into 2" at 50 yards, and that may be about as well as I can do with open sights. The High Wall is still being temperamental.

Did ya get the heavy-weight bullets for your High-wall yet Tex? I went out today and filled 4 55 gal drums with water, banded the lids closed, set em on their ends and fired my 458 WM, 505 Gibbs, 500 Nitro Express, and 577 Nitro, recovered some beautiful bullets fired from 25 yards. Those sombishes have tremendous hydraulic effect. Gunner
