Picked up a very very lightly used Win FN M70 Ultimate Shadow in .243 a few months back. I have a Fwt .270 that I love and this was a great deal on a basically new rifle (only one box down the tube) so I figured it would a nice add to the collection. Put a VX-2 3-9 on it and today was first trip to the range with it. Trigger was heavy but crisp, just like my .270 and I was shooting factory loaded Hornady 100 gr Interbonds.

Once I got her zeroed I shot a nice 4 shot group and a pretty good 5 shot group. The last shot on the 5 shot group is the high one, barrel was pretty warm by then. Not bad for a barrel that's not even broken in yet. Now has 40 rounds down the tube.

A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

Paul, thanks for your honest report on that new to you FN built model 70. That's with factory loads so if you start loading for it, they should shrink. Looks like it's got mucho potential though. Those ultimate shadows are great rifles too.

Next time out I'm going to shoot a box of Federal 85 gr Barnes TSX. My daughters x-bolt shoots the smaller triple shocks much better than the bigger 100 gainers and both have 1:10 twist barrels.

I've had a pretty good indication that 80gr. TTSX are going to shoot really well in my Remington .243... You might try them.
