I've got a left handed Ruger 77 that also started off life as a .30-06. I got it re-barreled to 9.3x62mm and took it to Zimbabwe last year on a dangerous game hunt. It performed very well and is extremely accurate. With 286 gr Swift A-Frame hand loads it easily shoots sub MOA. Ruger makes fine rifles.

I liked the looks of a dark bolt handle. Matt at Hill Country Rifles suggested it, along with the engine-turning. It seems to be more in keeping with the classic look.

Does the bolt handle match the factory blue on the rest of the rifle?

My interest is because I had to reshape the bolt handle on my CZ lefty to clear the scope. For now it is just cold blued where I removed metal, but eventually I will want the whole bolt handle refinished, and I'd like it to be reasonably close to the finish on the receiver.

It was Cera-Koted and matched perfectly. Something to remember on the Rugers is that the bolt is stainless; it can't be "blued". Gotta use some waazoo 21st century finish like Dura Cote or Cera-Kote.
