Unbelievable...more like a play. Costume changes, stage props (like a guillotine...did you know he was a magician?)and ballet dancers. Who'd a thunk, right? His wife used to be the show's dancer, now his daughter is. The daughter describes a typical show as, "... like opera but with blood." Momma held up pretty well...

Cheap trick opened for Ted Nugent, as good as Nuge can play live, Cheap trick totally surprized me. What a live performance! I saw them open for UFO in the quad cities back in the mid-seventies. Small venue, killer concert.

I've had exposure to many types of music in my life; I started studying piano when I was only six in NYC. I saw Jimi and the Allman Brothers at the Fillmore, but I couldn't say they were the best as acoustics and sound production weren't the greatest in the late 1960's. I saw a lot of bands at MSG as well- Stones, Led Zep and such. Robert Palmer was VERY memorable, as was Little Feat.
Vladimir Ashkenazy with the London Symphony Orchestra (I know, most guys can't handle classical, but it's what my training was) I've not heard a more perfect piano.
There was some Waylon, Willie, Jerry Jeff whilst living in Tulsa. All three are excellent, but I don't remember much of it.

Waylon Jennings 1978, Poplar Creek Chicago. My buddy tells me I had a good time. Back in his prime Waymore was the total package.

Never been to a concert and don't plan on ruining a perfect record. I HATE crowds. 175 years ago I would have been a mountain man in the Rockies.

I've seen Buffett more times than I care to remember, Van Halen (Hagar), Kid Rock, and numerous "smaller" bands; however, Chris Tomlin in the fall of 2012 was the best ever. . .

Van Halen three times......much better with David Lee Roth than with Sammy Hagar. Eddie Van Halen is an awesome guitar player. Saw Nugent opened for ZZ Top in Daytona.....that was a good concert too

Walking around town following the U.S. Sailboat show in Annapolis, I spotted a card stapled to a phone pole that announced a special 1-night performance at the governor's mansion, that evening.
Because of a missed flight connection, the Count Basie orchestra, led by Frank Foster, played for a very small group of us, about 50 people, IIRC.

Avett Brothers Cleveland 2012, my wife and I were front row center and it was amazing. Saw a bunch of people crying for a couple of songs, yes they were drunk but those songs were still pretty awesome.

seen some good 'uns in my time...
Went to the "First Annual Day of Rock & Roll" at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans in 1979, the year I graduated High School. I saw Blue Oyster Cult, Boston, Heart, Van Halen, Nazereth, Sammy Hagar, George Thorogood & the Destroyers there and then in 1981 was rocked at the dome again my The Rolling Stones. I've seen a bunch more, but one of my favorite shows ever was 9 years ago when I took my then 15 year old son Josh to see Ted Nugent open for ZZ Top in Jackson, MS. My most recent concert was seeing the critically acclaimed and technically advanced Avenged Sevenfold perform in Birmingham, Alabama in 2010. I drove the 4 hours there, saw the show and made it back home in time to go shoot doves all day in one of the hottest fields that I've ever shot over!

Best, John Denver about a year before his crash. Willie Nelson around 1985 or so, Reba about the same time. Saw Van Halen and Boston about 1978.

I dunno. For me it's a tossup. AC/DC at the Reunion Arena in 1982 was pretty hard to beat. Angus played his guitar all the way through and around the crowd. Awesome. But Texas Jam 1984 was pretty rocked out too. Sammy Hagar, Joan Jett, Journey and I-can't-remember-who-all.
What was yours? Went to the 1979 Texxas jam and it was about the best I have been to. Heart, Boston, Van Halen (not van hagar), Blue Oyster Cult, Sammy Hagar, TKO, Nazereth. Awsome shows By Heart, Boston and Van Halen! Dang it sure was hot. Fire hoses from the stage blasting the first 50-60 feet into the crowd. Dem sure was the days...
