My impression was that their quality was superior to C. Sharps. When I got mine, which was around 2000, I got it from a broker. If I recall correctly, his name was something like Bill Goodman out of Bozeman? He kept orders in the pipeline at Shiloh, and then when someone wanted one they would call him and give him the specs they wanted and he would call Shiloh and have one of his rifles about to be assembled built to those specs, then he would sell it to you. To do that, he charged something like $200 which, considering a few months vs waiting a year or more, was worth it to me. Dunno if he's still doing that or even still alive. I expect nosing around on the Shiloh forum might get that question answered. Even back then, just ordering through Shiloh there was something like a year's wait. Going through Goodman cut that down to a few months. Shiloh's build quality is so good that parts are supposed to be interchangeable between a Shiloh and an original Sharps.

I visited their showroom in big Timber in 1998 or 2000 when I was out on vacation prior to ordering so I could look the rifles over. I also visited M.V.A. at Belgrade and had their long-range Sharps sight put on the back and their windage adjustable globe front with spirit level put on the front. I have the 1874 Hartford Model. The sights cost $500 alone, and the entire rifle with sights ran about $3K.

I visited their exhibit at an N.R.A. Convention in Orlando and all the contacts I've had with them, both when I visited their showroom in Montana and at the N.R.A. Convention have been cordial. Not sure why you had a hard time with them?

Anyway, I'll nose around some and try to see if Goodman is still doing the brokering. If he is, that could cut down your wait time significantly.
