Weather was beautiful this morning and I decided to tidy up the garage. I worked hard for about 3 minutes then I found a couple boxes of 3.5" Rem Premier #6 Turkey loads and ditched the stupid idea of garage cleaning wink . I knew where a few partial boxes of other turkey loads were hiding so off to the range I go.

Figured the trio could use some sunshine grin

Left to right:
Browning Maxus (28" bbl) Invector X-Full Turkey Choke
Benelli SBE II (26" bbl) Benelli Full Choke
Rem 870 (23" bbl) Indian Creek .665 Choke

Single shot H&R in custom turkeyflage. Generally have to hike quite a bit to get to the public land birds around here, so we go light. My boys helped in the paint job!

My son called both those gobblers to his decoy with an easy yelper. Shot one then the other.

Taz, that H&R has a modified choke. Not ideal, but we usually get them within 30 yards or don't get them in at all. Hevi-shot does the trick!

I finally got two 20's I'm putting together for friends assembled last night. Off to the patterning boards today to dial in the red dots and see how they perform. Not the best pics with the cell phone, but here they are:

Not 100% happy with them, but at least they aren't solid black now. Learned a few more lessons this go around with one being to base layer the tracks black where they'll pop. You really have to know what you are looking at to notice them on the gun.

Shrapnel, is that Winchester a .25-35 that you mentioned in other posts????Killed one fall turkey with my .25-35..It was a hoot...The 117 grain RN ruin just a bit of meat..the only turkey I lost any meat to speak of when shooting turkey with a rifle..

Yes, that Winchester is a 25-35. I have killed everything from gophers to a Grizzly bear with it. No meat was ruined on the Grizzly either...

Shrapnel, one day when I was a high schooler I was callin' turkeys down on the Tongue River and just couldn't get 'em to come up close. I had a couple 3" copper plated BB loads in my pocket, Winchester Super X Double X if I remember right. Out of of interest, not to mention a might bit of frustration, I jacked one of 'em in the old 870 and took a 50+ yard shot at a tom. He went down like a frickin' box-a-rocks. Never did it again but it sure as hell showed me how deadly copper plated BBs can be.

The geese flew into the decoys and later the turkey walked in. Both seasons were open and I had 3 shells, so...

Steel shot can kill a turkey.

I love this gun for turkey type hunting. Light and compact with out loosing barrel length.

I have one deer kill with this Encore frame and would like to add a turkey kill by adding the 12ga barrel.

Got this bird yesterday at 6:30am. The gun is an Ithaca turkey slayer with a 2 x 7 Nikon and a Kicks gobblin thunder choke. Been killing turkeys for 15 years with this set up. [Linked Image] [Linked Image]
