I had a ruger PC40 and kick myself for selling it. I thought it was about perfect for a house gun, more precision than a shotgun, low recoil for the wife and does not mandate ear protection when deployed like a short 5.56. The extra barrel length would push the 180gr stuff to about 1200fps and the corbon 165 would reach almost 1400fps. All of that in a package that felt like a 10-22 on steroids. Even before the hysteria they were reaching $600-700.
Hunt hard, kill clean, waste nothing and offer no apologies.
