If you want I can come over and slap you in the palm with a 2x4 instead. Cheaper than ammo. My buddy has one of these and it's a handful with full-house stuff. Leaves rubber from the grip in your hand. Good luck on your search.

I found the only "good deal" that I ever saw on one of these and I jumped on it.
It is a handful, but then that's exactly what you'd expect from it. Not something you buy to shoot a whole lot I guess.
I love the beast and don't see myself ever parting with it. I have another 454 in the Taurus Raging Bull that I hunt with and it's a pussycat to shoot.

Seriously though, would love to pick one up someday. I have a full size .454 in Super Redhawk and it's a blast (literally) to shoot. Loaded up some 395 grain hardcast pills and gonna go looking for some hogs and deer this upcoming season. With the really heavy bullets, it's not much worse to shoot than my .44 Mag Super Blackhawk. You definitely know you're shooting something with WAY more power, but it's not like you break bones in your hand.

Nope. Staying with 44 mag. If the bear is that big, well...I guess I will just be an appetizer.

My wife is 5-08 /140 and she LOVES to shoot HER Ruger Super Alaskan in .454. She has the guys at the range shaking their heads when she fires up that FIRE BREATHING, RIP SNORTING HAND CANNON!!!
The cheapest I have seen one for here in South Central PA is $789 and it was pretty beat up

Most dealers here have the 454 Alaskans on the shelf.
