A little true Teaxan humour. A friend of mine is working the oil patch here in North Dakota. He's been working with some Texans for a while and hearing all the typical bs. One night there sitting around and the Texas boys are talking about days off and going home for a while. He pipes up and said why go home you can't even get a b-job in Texas. What they say. He says because all you c-suckers are up here. Good night ED K
FRONT and center sir! And thanks for the BIG Doubles previous as well!
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”
Good Morning, Gentlemen. I hope this morning finds you all well. May all your endeavors of the day be fruitful. Go forth now with honesty, integrity and vigor to meet the challenge. Godspeed.
Being of the no-artistic-talent set, it absolutely blows me away that some people are this gifted...
Once saw a special on guys making doubles (Holland and Holland shop, IIRC) and the labor intensive handwork that went into them was amazing. No wonder they cost so much.
If I had millions, these would be my 'art collections'...
Not for me,too fancy, but a "plain" double in .470 or .500 NE would just trip my triggers.
Totally agree, Elky. When I bought my Beretta O/U I didn't want to pay any extra for 'frills'...just a great handling, well made gun.
I'd be quite content with a 'working man's' double, unless of course I was the aforementioned millionaire playboy..then I'd collect the fancy ones to look at and play with (women and rifles)!
Well I have 2 O/U's they are CZ Mallards a 12 ga and a 20 ga. They are not fancy or expensive, but, they great dove/quail guns!

Got a question for the "brains" on this here thread,Has anyone ever took a .300/.375 H&H case and necked it to a .338 with NO OTHER CHANGES? For some reason that type of .338 sounds interesting to me.
I'll check in at lunch time and read responses.

Bavarian cheek piece and stock could take a bit of getting used to but make mine a 757, please...
MojoHand,
you'd be surprised..........
how easy it is to adjust to luving this rifle. Light, fast and sub inch at 100yds. Carries like a dream and breaks down to fit in a 10 x 22 inch case. The recknagel ringmounts return the scope to zero every time.
I like em' so much that I've got one in 9.3 x 74r on the way in now.

Lord, that is sweet, Gdub. What caliber is your other one?
I've only handled one Merkel (not the full stock) and it was pure honey.
It ain't what you don't know that makes you an idiot...it's what you know for certain, that just ain't so...
