Nothing to do with Savages, but a couple of you asked to see pictures of my new Brittany pup, so here he is. No name yet, but so far he's looking like a keeper.

Good looking dog. Such an innocent look on it's face, course it's probably not teething yet... grin

Where I grew up there was a family that breed Brits. I could always tell the nutty ones from the group.

Take your vitamins Rod. smile

They are the most fun.

I smashed a lot of pheasants under the nose of a Brit. There is a great pheasant perserve in Marine City if you get her going that way. Also, I know some decent partridge area near Roscommon. Public land. My friends still go there every year and do well. Plenty of space.

That's a pretty Pup. We bread Burnese Mountain Dogs so I'm partial to Black, White, and Tan. But that little fella is just adorable, Joe.

I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.

This is our second Brit. I had the first one for 10 years before he died earlier this winter. We do a lot of grouse and woodcock hunting at my 40 and the adjacent federal land in Newaygo County.

The grouse in this picture has a story behind it. My family was at the cabin doing some bird hunting in October. One morning my wife and I went for a hike with the dog, and didn't take a shotgun. As always happens on such occasions, my Brit Rascal pointed a bird and we flushed a grouse in open cover that would have presented an easy shot. Rascal looked over his shoulder at me as the bird set his wings and sailed off, as if to say "I did my part; why didn't you bring a gun, Knucklehead?"

About a hundred yards further on, the dog pointed again, and then turned to look at me briefly. He then dove into the thicket and came out with a grouse in his teeth. He came over, dropped the bird in my hand, and strutted away. The message was clear: I had been fired from my duties as head grouse killer. I never again took him for a run at the cabin without my shotgun.

Beautiful. My friend Jim just picked up his Brit pup a few weeks ago. He lost his GWH and wanted a pup small enough to fly with him in his homemade kit plane just completed. Good luck with the pup.

Oh boy Rod... sure is a great looking pup... we just went through puppy phase here with our new GSP... she turned 9 months today so we still have more puppy phase to go (like 6 years!!) but the teething, potty training, and obedience training are all well and over and I don't expect she will grow much if any more... it is fun and is over very quickly... be sure to take lots of pics... they grow up real quick!

He's been a model citizen so far. Pretty calm and eager to please. I've got a grouse wing tied to an old flyrod and I'll have him starting to point by the end of the month.
