I really wasn't running down the Macanudo, it is a quality cigar. Its flavor profile is on the light side for me though.
A good while back when they were relatively new on the market I had a few of those Padrons that were simply unreal good. But I started getting one now and then that didn't clear the bar the early ones set, and at their price that was unacceptable. I haven't had one in a few years now, maybe they're back.
I smoke cheaper than I used to, but I still smoke well. My method is to lay in a good supply of Punch maduro/oscuro and Gurkha Colorados and let them age in my humidors. That way I'm always smoking a well rested cigar. Mid range full bodied cigars respond well to this treatment.

I stopped smoking them a couple of years ago, when they got outrageously expensive. I sort of grew up with Padrons my dad used to by them for .50 cents! I normally buy seconds from the big cigar internet outlets and often-times get real good deals. Guhrka Battalions were great. Some good stuff out there if one is patient and waits for the sales. Like you I prefer a stouter smoke.
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

Not too bad, but her shoe straps are digging into her cankles a bit.

Somebody said "on track". OK, here's a quiz: How old is this ammo box? Clue here, and you gotta read the fine print: Fella handed these to me the other day an asked if I could reload them. -snort- First guy that gets it right gets a date with Porch Girl. Honest.
I am..........disturbed.

Now that right there is perfect...... Like a wood stocked M70 in 7X57 shootin' a 175gr. round nose and "tawdry" carved into the stock! Ahhh....the influence of the Poobah.
