Poor or good planning on my part? I have 2 fresh re-barrels coming to my mail box next week. A lazy twist 6 BR in a LVSF and a new Lilja 25-06 AI on my stainless MR, and I just traded my Classic Cooper Model 22, 6.5-284 for a Cooper Phoenix in the same cal. Now I'm hoping for some good weather.

I'm hoping that the 6 BR likes 70 TNT's because I have a bunch. Expect the 25 AI to shoot 100 BT's or 100 Scirocco's and hope the Phoenix shoots 130 VLD's as well as the Classic did.

I shot several of the 70gr TNTs when I had a 13 twist on mine.. I used Remington 7 1/2s, VV 135 (29.5g) and they shot well.. However, this barrel shot all light bullets well...

Tried the 6 BR today. It is a 3 contour Krieger. Remington 700 in a LVSF stock. Shot 4-8 went just over .5 and 4 of them were .305. That one is going to run.

This is the 6 BR. Yea, I know you can't tell much from 3 shot groups but this is the best of 8 groups, 4 with each bullet and powder combo.

A shooter, for sure! Nice. Did you cut off part of the forearm at the end? Which Leupold is that?

Aalf knows the whole story on the POS 6 BR Parts gun, he helped me with a great smith. It had a pretty bad name until I FINALLY got it done and shot it.

The 25-06 AI caused me a lot of grief too until last grasp at straws I changed out the scope, 50 rounds or more later. It went from 1.8" to the .4's".

I think I pre-paid for an easy build on the fast twist 243 AI, my next project.

bearstalker, I bought the stock on this site but can't remember who sold it to me? It is cut off square.

I have been playing musical scopes for a few weeks and can't remember what scope that is. It has a straight 12X Leupold on it now. I think it is a 4-12 VXII With newer caps.

My next LAST build is off to the smith. I sent him a trued 700 S/A, a #3 Bartlein 7.7 twist and a TI Take off. Going to be a 243 AI

What are your thoughts about length to cut it to. I'm leaning toward 22" but could live with 24 although it will make it pretty nose heavy.

I plan on trying some Berger Hybrid 105, Hornady 105 AMAX, and some 115 Berger or DTAC's and starting with RL 22.

Thoughts?

23" makes a good compromise.....my choice on a 260 and 22-250 Ackley.

No I swear, it is my LAST build really it is.
( Said the loonie ).

Is your 260 and 22-250 AI in a Edge & 3 contour?

I think that Bartlein might be a smidge larger that some other #3's

My first step into the fast twist world!

Give me a little time and I might be able to weigh in on the 243 Vs 25-06 in the AI version.

I shoot the MR 25-06 as well as or better than any of the rifles I own but the first 243 AI I had built, I watched 5 people kill 5 buck antelope with 5 shots in one day.
