Impressive accuracy AND velocity. Didn't know a 24" '06 would do 3100

I always knew my 300 saum was just a short action 30-06+p but this just confirmed it

Very nice! I'd say load work is done on each and it's time to shooting critters. Congrats!

I was surprised too. I had 9 thru the chrony and the standard deviation was 47fps, which is great! I am going to shoot the next string with 59gr. to see what happens to the velocity and accuracy.

Evidently another example of confusing standard deviation with extreme spread.

I would be curious, however, about what chronograph was used. In my experience the .30-06 is capable of 3100 fps with 150's but only with powders a little faster than H4350.

I thought that might be the mix up. Thrown charges of 4064 will give SD in the low teens for my 308's, and 4064 meters like Lincoln Logs.

Yes, my bad. I knew it didn't sound right but never went back to correct the improper useage. I know better but at my age sometimes I'm lucky to just turn on the computer.
PROCHRONE was the chrony.

The fit and finish is very good. I did nothing to either rifle as they come fully bedded. I adjusted the triggers to 2 1/2#'s. Using a Wheeler inch/pound tool I screwed the supplied talleys on at 25 inch pounds. I am using FX II 6x36 Duplex on both. I have bought into the Barsness theory of signal power scopes. I wish somone made a 8 power though.
Some may shun the push feed design and the blind magazine. Others may be critical of the two position, three safety modes. I too might have been reluctant to accept these features, but no longer. I belive Mr. Forbes, in engineering this rifle style, forgot more about rifles than I ever knew. I just look at the growing collection of target cards knowing I did nothing to the rifle other than to reload for it and shoot it.

thanks...one of these in 270 or 06 is on my list!

Yep. IMR4320 will get you 3100+ fps with 150s all day long, and with fine accuracy. It meters much better than the longer-sticked powders too.
