Hey all. I don't know anything about this but I've been interested in learning. Are there any matches in Ohio that I could attend to watch?
I'll be reading this regularly. I hope you don't mind too many questions.

Hey! Are there any shoots in Central or Western NY or North PA? I'd like to see one and maybe participate. Also, do they shoot the cowboy shotguns? If they do do they shoot slugs or shot? I would think they would shoot the doubles at these events, but I visited some ammo sites taht cater to cowboy shooting and all they had was pistol and rifle ammo.... and NO shotgun ammo for cowboy shoots.... hmmmmm????

Yogi man, Shotguns are required for all stages. Doubles and Winchester 97 pumps are what you will see almost everyone shooting. Most common load is winchesters featherlight (low recoil) and number 8 shot as I recall. Targets are normally no more than 10 yards away so works like a charm. TM

I'm about a month behind in reading this forum. Asleep at the switch or working too much?

Cowboy Action Shooting TM is a whole bunch of fun, giving us a chance to dust off the guns our great-grandparents might have used. Single action revolvers, pistol cartridge rifles and shotguns (side x side, hammered pumps or levers) are used on almost all stages. Not to mention the history and the costumes and the new friends.

The link is <sass.net> and you can pick your state or region to call up a listing of the shoots. Lots of clubs around here (NM) and AZ, TX, CO, which is a natural, but the Single Action Shooting Society TM is a growing group with international ties, as well as a club near you in all likelihood, wherever you live. Give the web site a gander and go from there.

It's safe and it's fun.
