Usually manage to break one every year. Seems the snap pretty well when it's cold. Can't see $100 for these though..

GaryVA. When did you purchase these? I just drilled into Six and found them all solid. Two objective and one eyepiece fresh from Midway, Made in the Philippines. Two older objectives, gotten on a trade deal a few years ago, and one old Belgrade Montana marked objective. The Montana unit does seem a more pliable material. That really pisses me off. I've had a few do that to me. Seems like the quality really started going downhill about 4 years ago. I am trying some of their "tactical" flip up covers right now:
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

So, mine were not hollow.... Maybe there's been improvement? When I previously swore them off, it was one of the Montana ones that had busted. Go figure.

I have not tried them, but Tenebraex scope covers may be worth a look. Appear to be fairly heavy duty, while being less spendy than the ARD covers. Models are made to fit Leupold 40mm objective scopes, as well.

I wonder if Butler Creek has been the victim of Chinese copies dumped on the market? Doubt it, but....

I wonder if they went Chinese then since switched to Philippines as the current ones are packaged?

Why not use a piece of innertube, old Ka-Ram-Ba style or whatever, either one takes 1/2 the time to flip off and no noise or loss. Muddy

I look around for unused NOS. Even though they have spent a few years in packaging they seem to still flex well.

The scope covers I use are free, as well as invisible....I've seen more snafu's regarding scope caps/covers in the heat of the battle than all other, "Oh schitt" moments combined... I'm coming to that conclusion as well.

GaryVA: I have reluctantly had to quit using Butler Creek flip up style scope covers also - they just don't work. Great idea, but they don't function like they should - for instance they are constantly unintentionally "opening up" at the worst possible times for me and the lenses of my big game scopes are being covered with snow, hail, sleet, rain, mud (thrown up by ATV's etc) and dust. They work fine while my Rifles are stored in a gun case but when extracted from same they immediately start opening unintentionally. I have gone back to buying the rubber band type scope covers - and I often find them for a dollar at garage sales and gunshows. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy
