I have no idea what caused the break. i was at a guys house buying a trailer from him and he asked if i hunted. i said yes ,he said he had a rifle he wanted to sell.he brought it out,it was fully painted camo and had a cheap scope on it. he said it was very accurate. i asked him how much he wanted for it .he said 200.00 with what ammo he had. he then went to get the ammo. knowing it was a 710 and not worth much i didn't really look it over very good . the guy returned with 15 boxes of remington 150gn ammo and i just gave him the 200.00 and left.

Duct tape is too good for that POS. I'd take a cutting torch to it so nobody ever gets hurt with it and call it a deal on ammo.

That needs to go back to Remington! Ask for a credit on something else, as you could never trust another 710.

On the bright side, you got $300 worth of ammo for $200.
I'd try and return it to Remington and see what they'll do. I once bought a very nice 1100 at a pawn shop for $200 (deal!!). When I got it home, I noticed it had an ever so slight "bulge" in the barrel where the barrel transitioned into the screw-in choke. When I put my finger in the barrel, I could actually feel a ridge at the transition from barrel to choke tube (apparently, the barrel had been drilled slightly off-center for the choke tube). Every time the gun was fired, the wad/shot charge slammed into this ridge causing a bulge to form. Sent it off to Remington and got a new barrel for free (they agreed it had been drilled off center).

Probably said that was some of the best pot metal to come out of China in a while...
Send it back. Tell them it causes your pattern to be spread out. Tell them everyone that sees it on the internet just can't believe it..

You'd like to request a clean 700 action (stainless, .378) in exchange for it...
