What do you think Mauser has there?
Can you answer my questions please? I wish to Christ that Jack Kevorkian had been your neighbor 20 years ago. Or David Berkowitz...

Looks like they are to come in at a little less than the German site indicated $1499 for plastic, $300 more for wood. That puta them in dollars what the site originally reported in Euros. Jack

Can you answer my questions please? I question your sanity..the same company that introduced CRF obviously does not think it is necessary in modern sporting arms especially in non dangerous game cartridges.

Mauser just doesn't get it. They keep introducing abomanations like the Mauser 2000, and it fails. If they would just try a rifle based on the m98, they would find people would want to buy it. With today's CNC technology the sky is the limit.

My suggestion would be to take a good hard look at the M12 before purchasing

I think that you will find that "Mauser", which is NOT the same company as that which existed prior to the horrific human tragedy we know as "WWII", DOES in fact produce the original "Patterne 98" sporting rifles or, at least, close facsimiles of them.
The issue is that the basic model as I found when I enquired of a Canadian dealer in their products, last year, is priced at $15,000+ CDN. and then it would take a YEAR to get one......
I am a rockhard Mauser guy, I actually do own a fine Oberndorf Type B, in 9.3x62 of 1937 vintage and it shoots "dambusters" as one would expect. I consider Mauser to have been THE finest riflemaker of the pre-war period and think their destruction in the war to have been one of the very worst tragedies of that terrible event in human history.
But, how many guys can REALLY afford rifles that start at 15K per unit and, for those of us who can, most would prefer to have one built by a master such as Duane Weibe, Reto Buehler, Ralf Martini or perhaps one of the British or Euro. custom makers.
Just a thot, but, I doubt that they COULD produce a genuine "98" of the quality we see in even the better military versions, such as the 1930s South American models, at a price that 95% of today's rifle nuts would pay, whether they could afford it or not.
JStuart, I DID reply to your recent PM, sorry, it slipped my mind for a couple of days, but, I was not ignoring you, perhaps you can retrieve my answer on your end?

Hello Kute, I missed it, most likely when I had the pm's disabled.
Have you seen any other 21 shrouds that work like this one?

With today's CNC technology the sky is the limit. Fully agree with you. I recently handled an M12. Push feed, poorly inletted, detachable box, did not have the look or feel of a quality rifle. Clearly built to a price point. Doesn't come close to a Winchester Model 70, which sells for a lot less. If FN can build an M70 with an excellent CRF action for under a grand, somebody should be able to build an M98 clone for under three grand.

Bolt was slick as glass, and the stock feels real nice. Also they are test fired at the factory using American ammunition, usually Hornady.

I'd love to see one in person.
