They toss in a flashbang and the girl is SLEEPING on the sofa? I have to question that.

The pre-trial motions failed and the case is proceeding to trial.

A few years ago there was a program that followed various SWAT teams around with a camera.
I was most impressed with the Dallas team. Very professional, very creative, and they actually understood TACTICS.
There was another Texas team I liked. They would deploy their snipers ahead of time and have them in an over watch position before the raid team would even arrive. There were team that understood it was prior planning and excellent execution was what brought everyone home, and not an unplanned application of brute force.
The one I was the least impressed with was Detroit. When Detroit was on I called it "Amateur Hour".
No big surprise. Here is a recent ranking of the world's best SWAT teams. 1.GSG 9, Germany 2.San Antonio, Texas 3.Lexington, Kentucky, Emergency Response Unit 4.Dallas, Texas 5.DOE, Arkansas 6.Lawrence-Livermore, California 7.Plano, Texas 8.Wake County S.R.T., North Carolina 9.Bruce Power, Canada 10.Austin, Texas 11.Beaumont, Texas 12.Arkansas, State police 13.Taiwan 14.Shelby County, Tennessee 15.Nellis Air Force Base 16.Indiana, State Police 17.Contra Costa, California 18.Alabama, State Police 19.West Hartford, Connecticut 20.Missouri, State police Was there some kind of competition? If not, what was the judging criteria?

""He pulls back and his hand hits the trigger. ... It was an accident. It was not careless. It was not reckless," the defense lawyer said."
His hand shouldn't have hit the trigger no matter what. YA THINK? It continually baffles me how many "professionals" don't understand and practice Cooper's Four Rules. 1) Treat all guns as if they are loaded 2) Never allow your muzzle to cover/sweep anything that you do not wish to destroy. 3) Keep your finger OFF OF THE TRIGGER until your sights are aligned on your target. 4) Know your target and what is beyond it. Notice that you have to violate TWO of them for a tragedy to occur.

Notice that you have to violate TWO of them for a tragedy to occur. True enough, but it baffles me just as much that people live with murderers and don't expect things to go badly.

The little girl should have moved out of the house?
I know that's NOT what you mean by your post, but I don't know what you DID mean.

I know that's NOT what you mean by your post, but I don't know what you DID mean. What I mean is that living with criminals is bad for your health. Regardless of where the harm comes from, these people are always "shocked" that something bad happens to them.

So we should be holding the mother and grandmother responsible for the little girl's death?

So we should be holding the mother and grandmother responsible for the little girl's death? What was the proximate cause for the police being there? They were serving a felony search warrant for drugs. So, assuming there was nothing wrong with the warrant, and if a felony quantity of drugs was found, it was the underlying felony (drug dealing) that lead to the child death. Do we have a case for charging Mom and Grandma with Felony Murder?

Actually, it was an arrest warrant for a murderer, living in the home, and no, Mom and Grandmother should not be charged. They shouldn't be surprised though. If the bad guy had been stitched up for good reason and a pass through killed the girl, she would be just as dead.

How exactly can you properly execute a swat raid when you have a distracting film crew that you have to be concerned with? I think they call it the Janet Reno approach.

Of course she would. And the cops would be just as wrong as they are now, for sending a SWAT TEAM into house containing innocents.
"IF" the cops had waited for a better opportunity to arrest the bad guy, the person he is accused of murdering would still be just as dead.
"IF" contests can go on forever.
