Me too!
Wife and kids went to her cousins house in Las Cruces and ate, watched fireworks.
I went to bed at 9-ish got up started pump and cut hay today. Hay sucks............knotters swallow. Just sayin'. Haying is in full swing here. We got about 100 ton baled up this week which is a decent start. Broke a belt on one baler this morning, thermostat went out of a tractor, typical day....grin My buddy is hounding us to go out on his boat this weekend. Wife is like yeah! I was like yeah right, you two have fun!

Poobs, you would make a fine chaperone...I think....grin
Wages, that sucks with the fouled up hay. We lucked out so far. Storms all around us today but we didn't get any where the hay is down. Just looked at the radar and see one headed this way though...
Elk, our round bales only weigh around 1000-1200lbs. You have a big square baler? First of two cuttings here on the irrigated, we also cut a far amount of dryland and it looks great so far.

Yes Alfalfa and yes to the dairies.
Yes squared bales. Had enough water in Elephant Butte for 1 irrigation, from here on it is pumps. We get 6 cuts down here,2 irrigations then cut.

Sea gulls(aka sky rats) love to follow the swather and attack pheasant chicks that I chase out into the open and out of the way.
Of course it's illegal to shoot them(the sky rats) with a 12 gauge so there's not much a guy can do but watch.

Try a 20? I heard you can shoot anything with a 20.
PS: Try a Black Cat in a piece of hot dog. Tossed in the air.

A 12 gauge is quicker.....grin I heard tell that tossing a piece of shrimp on a hook and line up to circling Gulls has a positive discouragement factor!

A 12 gauge is quicker.....grin They are fun for long range HMR drills when we go to the Hi-line........... Good Times. Now that I hear they are devious pieces 'o schit to little uplanders, I will try harder, from farther.
