Don't know if they're from that mold but I recently bought 1,000 from these folks and they're pretty good cast bullets.

Denny I believe Dardas to make a fine bullet but his are machine cast & he doesn't offer the bullet you ask of. The Lyman 358156 is a gas check bullet. It's hard to find this bullet from a commercial caster as the gas check isn't machine friendly. Western Bullets has the RCBS 38-158-SWC which uses a gas check. You can find it here:
http://www.westernbullet.com/rcbs38158swc.html

If you want the Lyman Bullet I can cast it for you. I'm enclosing a picture. You can reach me here: lahsuddenlink.net

Denny-
Try Montana Bullet Works. No credit cards, but their bullets that I've used have performed well.

Denny,

Don't hesitate to take up Creeker (Lynn) on his offer. I have shot a ton of his bullets in years past and they are excellent.

They don't cast the 358156 bullet. You would have known that if you had looked.

Any reason for that specific weight? They do make a 160gr and they are decent slugs. I've had good luck using there .44 cal. and 45-70 slugs.

brinky, the 358156 Lyman is a classic Thompson design with a gas check, they have 2 crimp grooves and feature a shortnose so they can be used in N frame SW revolvers crimped in the top crimp groove with 357 mag cases and seated out and crimped in the bottom crimp groove for use in 38 Special case. That design also used to be offered in the Hollow point version as well which put them around 146 grs depending on your alloy. the 358156 design was the favorite of Skeeter Skelton whereas Elmer Keith liked the 358429 semi wadcutter with a longer nose that won't crimp in the crimp groove in N frames but is crimped in frt of the forward drive band. You can crimp them in the crimp groove for use in K frames though. ??? Magnum Man

Thanks for that. I didn't realize that there was a design limitation. I'm actually surpised that Beartooth doesn't make a bullet for that. It seems like it would be a popular seller given the purpose you mention.

brinky ,the 358429 swc design follows what Elmer Keith thought was necessary for a good bullet, the nose on them is longer than about any other design out there they weigh 166-172 grs depending on the alloy. With the right alloy ,sized right to the gun barrel and throats they are very accurate and a top penetrator for 358 dia designs. Magnum man

Try www.rimrockbullets.com. They have a cast GC hollow point that is similar to 358156 among others.

On my browser, http://www.rimrockbullets.net works; dot-com produces a page-not-found error.

Another recommendation for Montana Bullet Works, they cast the bullet your looking for. I've been very happy with their product, service, and advice.
