One 16. An old win 1897 pump. Full choke, exposed hammer, great trigger. It was manufactured in 1900. Handed down to me by my late elk hunting mentor. I like to use it to run n gun for Rio's. Got a real nice old tom this season with a swarm of 6's from that old 97'. BT53

I've used and traded / sold and Ithaca sxs and a Winchester M12, and currently shoot both a Browning Citori White Lightning and a Merkel O/U ( with an extra set of barrels, 16 over 7x57.) Love 'em both. and yes, kid0917 I do use a Macintosh computer!

Remington Sportsman 16 currently sporting a 26" Imp.Cyl. barrel.
Would very much like to have (later on) a Lefever Nitro or an L.C. Smith sxs 16, to go with the pair of sxs that I inherited from my grandfather (a Lefever Nitro 12 and an L.C. Smith 20).

I have a 1937 Fox Sterlingworth sxs and a 1951 Winchester 24 sxs, both original guns and 16 ga.. I,too, have bought the Remington promo 16 ga. shells on sale in the Fall in K Mart. I don't small game hunt much anymore so I'm thinking of selling the Win. 24. Any 16 makes the ideal upland gun.

I have a Stoeger Zephyr Pinehurst in 16 ga double. It was made in Spain. It's a very pretty gun with some engraving work and the wood is beautiful.

Guess I'm destined to become one. Just bought a Winchester model 12 Tournament Grade in 16 guage. Solid rib and a black diamond stock. It has a corn cob fore end which I am convinced is a replacement. I'm looking for a proper fore end to replace the replacement with.

I use a sweet 16 on doves and a 1942 model 12 as my beater grouse and woodcock gun. Don Zutz used to say that a 16 gauge model 12 handles like a British Game gun and I believe he was right!

KyWindageII, I don't know Don Z or anything about British guns ('Well frogs cannot speak of oceans.') but I guess he liked Model 12's. I got it because I have Trap models in 12 gauge M97, 20 gauge M12, and a M42. It'll feel right at home with the other straight stocked pump guns.

I enjoy a model 12 mod choke for the pheasants we release to work the dogs. Nothing special or overly pretty as it has been around since 1958 but sure is smooth!

To ALL 16ga. Lovers and Users; Go to www.16ga.com. This is the web sight for a neat group of 16 ga. worshipers known as the " 16 Ga. Society " There is loads of information on 16 ga. guns and ammo and the like. They have a very active forum. Give it a try....You'll like it. Rabbitdog

Got two... A 1950's era 1148 and a 1947 Stevens 530a SxS.
I am hooked on the 16, as it sure does the job on pheasants!!!!

On Saturday I used my Merkel to shoot two blue geese, a sharptail grouse and a coyote. Seems like the 16 is still versatile!

I'd like to have a 16 gauge barrel for my NEF Pardner.

Rick Bin, my uncle's old ribbed Sweet Sixteen was the most enjoyable shotgun I've ever taken afield. It was simply a joy to handle and shoot.
For my uses, the 16 gauge is tops!

I have one 16ga, a side-by-side. I don't find ammunition avaialbility an issue, because it's a flinter. It's a bit over 7 pounds, so I can feed it anything from 1/2oz of #8 for pests to 1-3/8oz of #2 Bismuth for geese. Love the versatility.
Joel
p.s. - I'm still working on steel loads - likely wind up with 1-1/4oz over 3-1/2 - 3-3/4dr. That's got some noticable recoil.
