If we are just talking Big Game hunting then it would be a light weight .350 Remington Magnum and a .257 Weatherby.

The .350 can be loaded to handle anything from small game and varmints with pistol bullets to the largest bear with 250s.

The .257 would be for long range shooting of everything from varmints to elk.

All I really need is a 22LR and a 270 Winchester.

JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

1. 223
2. 270Win or 7mm Mauser or 7/08 or 280Rem or 308 or 30/06 or 8x57.
3. 20ga does not count as a "caliber" so I get an upland gun too! grin

My 2 would be a 22LR and a 260 Remington. I probably won't ever get another chance to hunt anything one or the other of those two wouldn't take care of.

22 and 30 if it had to cover everything.

I mostly hunt everything with a 243 though now.

22 cal as that gets me the 22 RF and a .223 Rem/5.56MM NATO.

Then the 6.5 cal as that gets me a .264 Win Mag.

Bases covered world wide. Bell killed a bunch of pachyderms with the 6.5 so I am set. laugh

.243,
I'd go with a .22RF, and a .375H&H or .338Win. You can always load the big one's down for smaller game or at max for the big stuff. The .22RF can take care of most any "small" game or pests. memtb

I have a matched pair of Browning Safaris in ..243 & .308. They would do me just fine.

I bought a Blaser two barrel set in ..22-250 & .270. I could live with them.

I have several nice .30-06. Pair any of them with a nice shooting .223 and I would be fine.

Having said this, you got to have a .22 and a shotgun! Jack

Well I don't like these sorts of what ifs. But its August and I guess people are bored. Ok, I will play. I could live just fine with a 7mm RM and what I can't shoot with that, a 12 ga Shotgun for the turkeys, Waterfowl and upland game, knowing full well I will be over gunned on some and undergunned on others. Not enough to keep me awake at night. I would have North America pretty much covered and a good junk of the rest of the world that I can't afford to hunt these days.

6mm and 7mm.

Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!
