I was thinking about getting a Model 14 in 250-3000, but now I'm thinking about going through the custom shop and getting the 250 in either the BVSS or the thumbhole stock configuration in savage's custom shop.

Any preferences? Is the SS bull barrel and heavier stock worth the extra $500-600 over the sleeker lines on the M14 Classic? My 112BVSS has the SS barrel, yet my M40 hornet is "regular" chrome moly, other than weather resistance why goes stainless?. Bull barrel would help with heat.....

The rifle will be target/varmint only.

What would you do/buy?????

An M14 Classic is a great value and a rifle more than accurate enough for varminting.

Very Nice shooting!! 87 or 100 grain? My thoughts were to use the Speer 87gr TNT. Maybe I will stick with plan A. I just got looking at my 22-250 (112BVSS) and got thinking.......

If it's so great, why do you keep missing that dime?

Actually, I needed that little sucker to help pay the taxes on the matching 300 Savage Model 14 I bought. You see, I put my money where my mouth is. wink

Here's another case of you see one, you see 'em all. But gall dang it, it sure is nice to see a rifle built out of blue steel and walnut and shoots "A OK", right out of the box. Looks like Anticosti will be in for another dose of 250 Sav in this model 14 American classic.

12 shots. Remington factory 100 grain at 100 yds. rested.

I like the 250 in a sporter weight rifle. The savage factory versions shoot pretty nicely. mine is in the abhorrent stainless steel, really like the wood and blue one too. have thought about owning one of each.

mine shoots like this:

has accounted for these:

I like it.

Ordered my model 14 in 250 over 2 years ago, still nothing.

Seems the larger gun stores like Ellwood Epps and Cabela's get dibs on the 250's cause it still isn't in at my little wee local shop. About 1/4" away from just going and getting my $400 that I put down on it.

Savage Arms is pretty disappointing when it comes to ordering a new rifle.

Might just find an old 110 blind mag 30-06 or 270 and order up a Shilen barrel in 280 Rem and be done with this crap.

Mad Dog: order one from Bud's and have them deliver it to your local shop. They almost always have 'em in stock.

I'm in Canada dude, which pisses me off even more, seems "Buds" is over stocked with them and yet we can't get one in Canada? Savage Arms is looking worse and worse since the buy out.

Ooof, yeah can't help with that. That's a long time to have to wait for one.

Cabela's ain't stocking any Savage rifles in 250, it would be a special order for them. Probably take a month to get in.. grin

I've heard talk about problems with Savage exports to Canada, don't understand why there'd be any special delay.

Contact Bing at LeBaron in Toronto.

He had one for me in less than two weeks at 10% off catalog price [club member] - never looked back and that was well over two years ago. smile

*revised*

Kevin notes Wes has three 250s in stock - looks like he's had them awhile; you should be able to get a better deal than list price.

I'm interested in the Weather Warrior in .250; does anyone know if I can later convert to a detach-mag by just buying a new bottom plate and a mag? It looks like the Accustock is the same on both versions. I thought I might finally try a stainless/synthetic rifle.

MadDog, Epps does have a couple in stock. It seems to me you have really done your best to patronize your local shop....you could get Epps to send you a 14 and get other purchases close to home. BTW, I know about where you are; what gunshop is there?

Ya oughtta see Yellowknife, there is no-one selling firearms here, not even CTC.
