Everyone seems to paint them blue. Heck, it WAS blue. It would have been much easier to pair it blue. It would probably be finished now if it was. Much less sanding and
I wouldn't have to mask off the interior twice.

I had a 77 ford and she was yellow, got the nickname the hornet because of the rusty wheelwells on it, made it kinda look like a hornet. had the 300 straight 6 in her, man that engine purred.
we also had a red one that was 2wd when I was growing up.

Since we are voting to decide the color of Tzone's truck, I'll have to go with the OD green & black bumpers as well. It fits those old Fords so well. That is my favorite body style of any truck ever btw.

Congrats on restoring some old iron whatever color you choose to squirt on it.

-Come on guys! IT'S A FORD! Could there be any other colors besides rust and primer? Maybe a huge oil stain on the back bumper? (Let the hating begin!)

Someday.

Now yer talkin'! Ultimate off-road paint job and practical too.

That's kind of where I was headed with the "OD" sand tan. It already has flat black bumpers and wheels. It's not going to be "shiny" type of truck.

I wouldn't pick OD green because I know dave has mentioned that in the past....I'll let him do it, it will be nicer anyway. smile

Options are still wide open at this point since no paint has been purchased.

No, but it will look like that. I have a 73-77 grill for it. The 78-79 came with a more open grill and square headlight bezels. The 78's had round headlight in the bezels or square. The 79's had square headlights only.

Mine is a 78 with round lights and I think they look better in the earlier style grill. The grill with this truck was shot (along with the rest of the truck). I got a great deal on the grill that will be going in it and I can keep the round lights.

Leak oil is something she doesn't do. The truck runs and drives great. It has a 351M V-8, with a granny low 4sp trans. I thought it had 3.50 gears as many of them did. But, I recently made a goof while moving the truck and instead of putting it in 2nd, I put it 4th gear. I was able to move the truck the short distance. I thought I was out of gas because it was "lugging." When I shifted to reverse, I reailized what I had done. IDK...maybe it just has that much torque? Dave and WB could probaly answer that one for us?

You answered your own question. It's a Ford. Of course it has that much torque. smile
I prefer the 300's or 400's but I usually run what I brung anyway.

Pretty common for 1/2 ton 4 spd trucks to come with 3.5 gears. check the door tag next time you see the truck.

Pam's 79 F150 came with a 351M, 4 spd and 3.5 gears. Very nice combo IMO, 33x10.5 tires with those gears and a 4 spd should get you 14 mpg. (or better)

Ford had a chocolate brown back in the day that wasn't too bad. It hid the rust for a while.

It was hard to find them without that gear ratio but there were a few 3.72 or something close to it in the F150's

I had a '77 F150 with a built 400M, 4.56 gears & 38" super swampers but it didn't get 14mpg very often.

14 miles per gallon. Let's see that's eight on the road and six in town. Yeah, that makes fourteen. LOL.

Knew a guy back in the early 60's with a big block Ford Galaxy 500 that got 6 MPH on a good day. Of course there was a Hardware store owner with a 59 Olds that only did 4 MPH. Needless to say he didn't keep it to long.

I take it the fuel pump isn't inside the tank on this one, huh?

Nope. She's right out in front with easy access like it should be. Whoever decided they need to be in the tank needs to groin kicked.
