[quote=Whelen Nut]So, you are actually a M6Nut! I think you have cornered the market on M6's! No wonder there aren't any around here. *L* Very nice. [/quote THANKS Did you know or remember when the 6s were in production they were ONLY $20.00 more than the 7600s? Beats me why people wouldn't pay 20 bucks for a more decorative stock.

250 Speer thru the lungs and they will not take one step with 3031 at 2500 fps. Almost as good as a 270, LOL.

I shoot 225 gr. Sierra's out of my 7600. My 7600 is about 6 years old. It has a stock like the one pictured. Unlike the M 6 it doesn't have a raised cheek piece.

In a 35 Whelen, purdy much anything. Hell, a 35 Remington kills deer with such ease one can't imagine a Whelen doing whatever a 35 Rem does about eight fold.

jwall I'm sure you know this but there were fewer than 1000 M6's produced in 6mmRem. "Beats me why people wouldn't pay 20 bucks for a more decorative stock" AND THEN PUT A TUPPERWARE STOCK ON TO REPLACE THE FANCY WOOD. *L*L*L WN

W N -
Yes - and that's why the Tupperware stocks to preserve the originals.
My 6 mm is at least 95% or better.

Now to the O P -
My 35 W was custom reamed before Rem adopted the round.
My load was IMR 4320 with 200 H S P. (J D J loads)
They worked extremely well. Today there are newer bullets and newer powders.
IMO you don't need heavier bullets for W T deer.

Gottcha. If I had one in 6mm it would wear "everyday clothes" too.

That looks like a Rem Model 6 to me. I haven't seen a 7600 with that fore end nor a monte carlo butt stock. I can't see the checkering well enough to distinguish it. Just curious. 7600's have been that way for quite some time now.

NOT TO ARGUE, I'm sincere.
Okay guys, show me your Rem 7600s with Monte Carlo butt stock and sculptured fore ends (pump handles). I've owned some in the past, all I have now are M 6s. I've NEVER seen a 7600 with THOSE handles.
I have several, there are more than several pics on the fire here with me holding them over dead deer. I've NEVER owned a Model 6. I'm not going to take the time to dig them up because I'm tired, but feel free to do so.

Who hunts deer with .35 Whelen? What is your favorite deer load for this cartridge? I use mine for deer occasionally. I think of it as more of an elk rifle. It does for a fact make big holes in deer. Shoots flatter than you might think as well. The last one I got with the Whelen was at 225 yards. I tried some 200 grain bullets at one point but now use 225 grain bullets exclusively. For deer I prefer the 225 grain Sierra BT over 60 grains of R-15. I gather that is now over max so start 10% lower and work up.

I've NEVER seen a 7600 with THOSE handle. My 7600 carbine came with stocks just like that in 1998. I couldn't get on the iron sights for anything with that monte carlo comb, and it didn't take me long to take a rasp to it.

225gr. Sierra over IMR4064 works good on deer for me. I also shoot Nosler 225gr. over IMR4064. I have a pound of RL-15 that I will work up loads for next.

I shoot factory 200 gr Remmys to fireform for my AI. Rolls whitetails right over. Then I load 250 gr Partitions. More of the same.

Who hunts deer with .35 Whelen? What is your favorite deer load for this cartridge? Back when I used a .35, I had the best luck with the 200 grain Hornady and IMR 4064. Not the flattest shooting load around, but hammers deer.
Only a fool would sell an accurate .30-06

I have shot deer, elk and black bear with the 200 grain Remington CL (deer - factory loads), the 225 TSX (elk & bear) and the 250 PT (deer). I love RL15 in the Whelen. Seems to be excellent all arounder for the 225's and 250's. IMR4064 will net some really impressive speeds out of the 200's without leaning too awfully hard on it either, right in the 2850 range. Accuracy was pretty good as well.
I goof with the 200's just for shooting, but for anything bigger than deer, the 225 AB's or 250 PT's are my main bullet. Awesome cartridge. Wished that Kimber would drop there's. I don't think the Whelen gives up too awfully much to the 338 Win Mag when loaded to equal pressures..

For deer I'm loading the 200gr. Hornady SP and RL 15. It's very accurate and hammers the snot out of deer. I've got no problem making hits out to 300 yards with this bullet.
If I need more than that I use the 225gr. Barnes TSX. I also have a good stash of Nosler 225gr. BTs that I'm going to get around to testing and using.

Can't tell for sure from looking at the right side, but it looks like a 6 to me too. The 6 was only made briefly and was a fancier 7600. Here is a look at the left side of a 6. You get the full monte carlo stock with a wider beavertail on the forend http://www.gunauction.com/search/displayitem.cfm?itemnum=7719314

I have taken a bunch of Pennsy whitetails with the 200 gr Hornady over 3031. It worked without fail for many years. In recent years I have simplified some things, one being standardizing my Whelens on the 250 gr Partition. My grandson used one to take his whitetail last season. Overkill is way under rated.
Imagine your grave on a windy winter night. You've been dead for 70 years. It's been 50 since a visitor last paused at your tombstone..... Now explain why you're in a pissy mood today.

Do caribou count as deer? Three cows have fallen to mine with 250 grain Partitions over 56 grains of 4320. That loads just makes them fall over.
