I recently moved and had to set up my loading bench in the new place. The only place to put it was in the garage. Its attached to the house but not climate controlled...no HVAC vents directly to it. The garage door stays closed mostly. Do you think I will have any problem with temp or humidity. I have a storage cabinet for powder and primers.

I lived in Jasper, TX, for a couple of years and had my reloading bench in the garage. During those two years, the lowest annual rainfall total was 55 inches, as I recall. I fought rust constantly the whole two years, keeping a good stock of 0000 steel wool in the air-conditioned house. Had the same problem when I lived in an old ranch house in north-central Nebraska and had my reloading stuff in the poorly sealed basement.

Yup, sure will. I had my reloading bench in the garage at my second house that I lived and I fought rust like mudhen. Don't leave dies in the press or they will rust and theads can seize.

Depending on how much powder you keep on hand...buy a plastic file box for powder storage. You can keep it in the house and it's easy to carry to the garage when you need it. Keep the primers & dies in a 2d small one.

You're going to have problems. Is there any way you can wall off a suitable reloading space in the garage so you can A/C it or at least use a dehumidifier??

My reloading room is 12x25 and is heated, A/C'd and climate controlled. Best thing I ever did..

Thanks for the advice all...what I can and will do is move the things that will be affected by temp and humiditiy iside. That I can do. Dies, powder, Primers, etc don't take up much room.

Temperature won't be as much of a problem as humidity. I lived in Houston and never had a problem with primers or powder but keeping the dies and the bare metal parts on presses rust free took a bit of effort. Just wipe them frequently with an oil cloth and keep the inside of the dies about like you'd care for a good barrel. You'll be fine. I kept all my stuff in the garage and never had a problem other than the constant work to keep things rust free.

You don't have a living room in your house?

My reload set up is second to none in my household. I refused to be squeezed out of the house and into the garage. Isn't it strange how we spend $40,000 on a truck and leave it outside in the elements in order to protect all of our wife's 4000 cardboard boxes of Garage Sale junk stacked in the garage with only a pathway to the door?

My safe and reloading set-up is in our "formal" living room - it's about a 12X12 room. My wife has been hounding me to close it in - it has a large doorway and another window-like opening through to the stairs.

As for the garage, it's mostly my junk in there too - motorcycle, 4 wheeler, tools, etc.
