This thread is too good to die. First photo is me looking down from the spot where this year's deer died to where I shot him. The orange spot above the yellow aspens is my FIL and he's close to where I was when I shot. Here's another day on a high ridge looking northwest.

Thanks. About two hours after that second photo was taken we were in a full snow storm. It was an interesting but fun day.

Good ole Alabama pine thicket, longest shot would be 69 yards.
Whatever a 7x57 can do a 270 can do better.
True fair chase is you in the woods buttnaked with nothing but your finger nails and teeth.
If you'e fixin' to put a hole in something, make it a hole to remember.

freezer pleaser indeed. Just checked my camera in my frontyard/greenstrip/riflerange and there was at least 6 different bucks and many does/dinks. Mawsquaw may just lose one of her pets.

I took these pictures with my phone last Sat as High Brass and I left the woods. Looking down into the hollow. The logging trail into the same hollow.

Thanks to all for posting. I have really enjoyed seeing your deer country. We hunt blacktails here on the coast and cross the hill to the dry side to hunt mule deer and white tails. All these are as resident hunter. First pic is while hunting blacktails on the coast, dawn in October. The next two pics were taken while hunting blacktails in the subalpine and alpine in Sept. this year, not far from my home. I love to spot and stalk hunt them in the alpine early in the season. The next two pics are where I have killed a good number of mule deer, including this Fall. A place where I have rattled and killed whitetails, and plan to try again next week. And last: where I have hunted with my son for benchleg (mule deer/blacktail hybrids) when I lived in WA State. MnFn................I love the way you hunt. Good to see someone accepting a challenge. I wish I had the shoulders to do the same, but I don't. So, I have to settle for a muzzy with open sights. My range is no more than 50yds.
Good hunting.

Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a hunting license and that's pretty close.
