For the offer of a six pack of Yeungling. Got hosed in the deal. First four patches thru the barrel and first q-tips in the chamber. I'm making about a beer an hour.

Did he say how clean it had to be? I'd rinse that action with gasoline.

Hoping it was at least some old exotic thing you got to fondle instead of just a Monkey Ward bolt or such. Are you gonna offer lessons to him?

I gosta ax. How did it shoot? Does it shoot better? Why clean the .22? Many years ago, I bought a Marlin Mountie in a pawn shop for $250.00. I took it out and shot it. "Patterns" was the best way to describe the results. Went home and spent six hours cleaning the lead and old gunked up lube out of it. It is the most accurate repeating .22lr I have ever owned. Ed

My guess is you've used pretty decent ammo, too.

After shooting a few boxes of rat shot through my revolver you couldn't see the rifling. I plugged the bore with my finger, poured some mercury down the barrel, covered that with another finger, swished the mercury back and forth, then poured it back in it's bottle.
A patch down the barrel pushed the lead out, soft, like it was putty. Perfectly clean. Otherwise, I've never cleaned my .22s.

Bore snake cuts cleaning time in half. Brass on the snake does a good cleanup.

Since we're talking 22's. When I clean the barrel, it takes 25-30 rounds to get it back to shooting half-way accurate. Then for the next 25-30 rounds it shoots ok. After that it opens up again, I clean the barrel and the process starts all over again.
Does this sound like the barrel is about gone?

I didn't know that anybody made blackpowder .22s.
