the 77/22 really is built like a centerfire rifle. my 2 (22 and 22 mag) produce workable accuracy, although benchrest guns they are not. main thing mine both HAD to have was trigger work. they're a pleasure to hold, carry, shoot
you have to temper your accuracy expectations though. A couple months back I was checking zero on a 77/22 and my 504-T (a bull barrel .22). only had 30 yds to work with, but at that range the 77/22 was making about 1/2" groups. 504-T was shooting literally one little .22" diameter hole, shot after shot.
there are some well-known accuracy tricks for the 77/22 (shimming bolt, etc), just haven't had any of them done to mine. still, even in factory form, mine have waylaid plenty of squirrels
