My 77/22 needed a 0.007" shim to rectify a slight headspace issue. If needed, I would buy another. Like most, it is ammo sensitive.

At that price, buy it and work on it later. You'll never lose money.

Took a few young boys shooting today with the 77-22

All of them were hitting clays at 75-100 yards from a seated rest. Seeing those kids hit a 4" clay target at that distance was impressive. Two never shot a gun before.

That is one dandy little rifle. It made several young boys really anxious to shoot again. Gotta love when your part of the future gun rights planning!

the 77/22 really is built like a centerfire rifle. my 2 (22 and 22 mag) produce workable accuracy, although benchrest guns they are not. main thing mine both HAD to have was trigger work. they're a pleasure to hold, carry, shoot

you have to temper your accuracy expectations though. A couple months back I was checking zero on a 77/22 and my 504-T (a bull barrel .22). only had 30 yds to work with, but at that range the 77/22 was making about 1/2" groups. 504-T was shooting literally one little .22" diameter hole, shot after shot.

there are some well-known accuracy tricks for the 77/22 (shimming bolt, etc), just haven't had any of them done to mine. still, even in factory form, mine have waylaid plenty of squirrels
