I have 2 killdeer nests located in my yard so far. I put a stake next to them so I don't hit them with the mower. I like them around as they eat lots of bugs. My parents live in a subdivision about a mile from a river. They have mallards that nest in flower gardens all the time. I don't know how they get the babies back to the river, though.
