It seems unfair that women in our society feel it is necessary to put on "makeup" before leaving their house/apartment to go to the store.

Funny thing.. My mom has a tattoo.
Someone got the idea to mark the school kids with their blood types so when the soviet bombers took out Gary, they could easily be matched for transfusions. A feel good measure, obviously, with little chance of operational success.
Just a little cold war history. Ironically, I was just looking at a launch facility up close today..
Things that make you go, hmmmm..
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

The women choose to do that. Men are attracted visually and women adapt themselves to this. Women throughout history have adorned themselves to try to make themselves more attractive to men.
Men attract women by how successful we are, so we don't put on makeup and adorn ourselves. Instead, we show off our fancy cars and buy them expensive stuff to show what good providers we would be.
Some exceptions occur and it's not all 100% this and that, obviously, but that's just the way nature made us.

Hell OO, a lot of women don't even feel the need to put on pants, let alone underwear before they go to Walmart...evidently, judging by that one pic making the rounds. I dunno about makeup.
