Ingwe, Are you hunting to far away from town?
Deer culling to begin in Helena
HELENA, Mont. - Police in Helena starting today plan to remove as many as 60 deer from the city during December as part of an effort to reduce the deer population to 25 per square mile.
Chief Troy McGee told the Independent Record the deer will be trapped using cages baited with fruit and oats.
The deer will then be killed and taken to a local meat processor, eventually ending up at the Helena Food Share.
McGee said that since the program began in the fall of 2008, about 670 deer have been removed by the police department.
He said the traps are only located in areas where landowners have reported problems with deer, such as property damage, aggressive deer, or collisions with vehicles.

They are awesome little cameras Marty, I highly recommend getting one if you don't already have one.
Someone posted a Black Friday link for B&H Photo, $299 which is a helluva deal. I'm sure Cameraland would make a good deal as well.
I picked up a G12 from Cameraland right before the '15 came out. Think they're up to a G16 now, hence the sale on the '15

With deer season being a bust so far - only does and small bucks being seen, I decided to kick off the 2013 bird season. Hunted a new farm that had been logged 2 years ago and had some large cut overs adjacent to bean and milo fields. Owner assured me there were several coveys there and my dog Jake proved him right. The jackal posing: Found three coveys ( unheard of these days ) and trailed up a few singles. Did not want to hurt them too bad. The baby Browning and Remington STS #8's proved to be a great combo. Bird pie tonight. Life is good.

Crowrifle, you suck.
Wild quail...don't get any better than that. We got them down here by the bushel, but access to them is severely limited. Dammit.

A timely and apropo question. Coming home from hunting yesterday I turned off the expressway and went the last four blocks to my house..literally saw more deer in the 'hood than I did in the hills.
