I hunted with JJ in 2002 along with some other posters her and on Accurate Reloading.com. I really like his operation (it was my second trip to RSA) and I'm going back this year in about a month. I certainly wouldn't have booked a return trip if I didn't think the first trip was great. In fact another guy who was on the first trip is also going on this trip for his second time with JJ. Retun bookings say alot.

Other posters have given you accurate information and good advice about the lodge and the hunting so there's no sense repeating it. JJ is a stand up guy who won't BS you or steer you wrong. He gives everyone who books with him great instructions prior to the hunt and you'll be met at the airport and taken directly to Landelani. The owner MW and his lovely wife are also great people. Besides that, he sends everyone a really neat hat. What more could you ask for.

If an RSA plains game hunt is in your plans, save yourself alot of work and aggrevation and just book with JJ and be done with it. You won't regreat it.

Have you decided what animals you're interested in and what type of terrain you prefer? That would be my first step. Some people like hunting thick riverine bush, while others like hunting big, rolling, open country.

Many animals have overlapping ranges, and some hunting areas have dozens of animals shipped in from all over (although I don't think you'll find that in JJ's operation).

If you have preferences on terrain and animals, then you can get some very good advise on where and who to hunt with.

One other thing, you should know the pricing differences of different species in different areas. For instance, Kudus are generally around $1000 in RSA, but closer to $600 in Namibia. That's just an example that you should consider if you're interested in 1 or 2 specific animals.

I have hunted with JJ on two separate occasions, in 2002 and 2005. I have no reservations whatsoever recommending him and/or his operation to anyone interested in a first rate PG hunting experience in RSA. One thing that carries a lot of weight with me is that with JJ you will get EXACTLY what he tells you.

WRT the hunting area and lodge, you will find: game abundant, trophy quality good to great, wonderful accomodations, fantastic food, friendly and competent PHs and quality equipment (vehicles, etc). Its a first class operation, with a genuine and high quality hunting experience.

Here are some links to pics from my trips. You will recognize the names of some of the other fine gents that have posted above. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I hunted with JJ in 2002. To the point - after that hunt I made plans for 2 more hunts with JJ, but the subsequent opportunity to adopt my son and extended medical care for my wife put paid to those plans.

There are many excellent hunt brokers/PH's and JJ is one of them.

JJ - I'll get back there yet...
