But Tikka doesn't make short action receivers....they're all long. Would need to be rechambered and then a new magazine purchased, and should be good to go.

This a great rifle. I have a buddy who is a field rep for beretta USA and he said this gun is every bit as accurate as the flagship 85. They market this rifle 3 shot under 1" and the 85 at 5 shots under 1"........secret....the gun will do anything the 85 will do! Solid rifle. Solid deal. Proven caliber.....GLWS

I'd buy a 7/08 over a 280 myself, and I'd chop an inch or two off bbl to boot, forget any diff, I'd make it an even dandier rifle.
If tuition was not bleeding me of cash...somebody needs to snatch of this rifle.

As you can see, I have been a member of this forum for quite a few years. Enjoyed it, learned a lot, bought several item but have very few posts. I've always thought I could learn more by listening than talking. Since I already know what I know, talking about it won't make me smarter. By listening I hear others ideas and can decide whether to accept them or not. That being said, this thread is a bit of a conundrum. Two sides, trying to justify why their view is right. I see both sides as being reasonable viewpoints generated by good people. Here's a question though.
If Johnny had been a member for years and made that FS post and 338 was brand new and tried to share public info regarding prices, I wonder what the opinions of the 338 side of the issue would have looked.

Man i spent all my money be kind of cool to rechamber to a 280 Remington. My wife has one of these in a 7-08 and with imr 4350 and 139gmx shoots very well. 7mm-08 short action 280 long action Change the bolt stop and get la mags and your in business. As stated tikka uses one action with 3 or 4 types of bolt stops.

Then STFU. The rest of your statement is superflous bullshit with no real bearing on this discussion other than to massage your own ego. Suckin' on my titties like you wanted me.

First off, I have given up any hope of selling this rifle on here. Thanks to all who have looked. Secondly, you couldn't make this schit up if you tried.
Now, onto the question DC ask us to ponder. Really? I mean really? If you put a lot of thought into that question, I am aghast. I can see why you don't post much, although this could have probably set a record as far as how quick you put up your reply post. (Given your time on the board) Seeing as how you like deep thinking, here is one for you to ponder.
"What if Romney had been elected instead of the current occupant of the White House. Would the economy look different?"
I think that is a gimme.
Thanks again to everybody, the rifle is not for sale anymore. Merry Christmas to all.
Steve
PS. Hey Cuss, if the situation were reversed, 338 was blessed with enough god given common sense to not make a stupid post about another rifle for sale or where to get it cheaper on someone else's for sale post. Especially when the post was in the classifieds, (for sale).

Damnnn, this thing is the post that won't go away. Kinda like a young lady I met in a bar many years ago. It were midnight and she was at least a 9, maybe even an 11. Next morning in the light of day she were a 5. For a while she just kept popping up, kinda like this add. Merry Christmas everybody.
