I had this late 1950's lightweight Savage 99F in 358 disassembled, cleaned, polished, and cerakoated along with another 99DL in 243. The work is impeccable, perfect. The 99F balances perfectly w/o a scope and is a very nice lightweight rifle that holds 5+1. The 99F in a 358 makes an amazing mountain rifle.

The metal is finished in flat earth, which is a mellow brown. The sights, screws, trigger etc were done in black to contrast. It comes with matching Weaver pivot rings that tip to the side to allow the use of iron sights, returning to perfect zero when swung back over. It has the screws in the scope base holes now, all matching.

The woodwork is painted bronze/brown with a Stone textured finish on top. A soft black recoil pad was fitted to soften recoil and finish out the appearance. LOP is at 14". This and the 243 are unique and were the first to pass thru the shop for this treatment. This creates a weather proof Savage 99 in an extremely versatile and useful cartridge for any of our game.
Bore and function are excellent on this rifle. No rounds have been fired since the treatment and everything looks new. $1550 shipped to your ffl.

Should be about the perfect 99 being the 1950's lightweight, weather-proof, and in the 358 cartridge.

My first reaction was 'yuck' but the more I look at it the more I like it. And an awesome caliber - free bump.

Here it is with the .243, so you can see the type of scope mounts that will come with the 358. The rifles are one shade apart on the cerakoat.
