Jetboil with Via is pretty darn good for elk camp. I leave my smoking jacket at home though.

I have both Folgers and Via packs with me. They are really good when out in the woods!

Agreed on the above Ed... I don't take the French Press on fall hunting trips, bit it ALWAYS goes along on summer backpacks.

Travis, forgot you have the Sumo... don't know if they make one for it, and kinda doubt it. But since you piqued my curiosity, I emailed Jetboil so I guess we'll find out.

Talk about a fast response:

Hello Brad,

Thank you for your email. At this time, we do not make a French press for the Sumo cups. We have received some requests from consumers who would like one so the feedback has been passed along to our R&D team.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us back.

Sincerely,

Carrie

Maybe I'll just have to buy another Jetboil... grin

Thanks Brad.

Folgers instant bags work for me. But I'm not picky about my coffee, as long as it's not starbucks.

Via works for me, but I do like starbucks coffee.

JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

+1 on the jetboil press. Folger's black silk instant is pretty good, but hard to beat Via.

picked up the Jetboil press a couple of years ago. Have the same perspective as Ed T with clean-up and water sourece, but quit using since I couldn't keep the grounds from coming around the press edges and making my coffee more like mud. Still want to make it work.....whats the trick, or is it just get used to the sediment?

Steve... The fix is twofold....

1, start using a french press for your morning coffee, like the rest of us grown ups. While you're at it, blow a hundred bucks on a burr grinder (blade grinders make [bleep] coffee) A medium to coarse grind is better than espresso fine. In the back country, I've been known to pack whole beans, and grind coffee on rocks. In fact, using the poll of a GB Outdoors axe on a flat stone is about the best grind a guy can get in the backcountry.

2, stop putting the screen on backwards on your Jetboil press smile

The Jetboil Flash is one of the most misunderstood stoves in the world. I don't know how many times I've heard people say "it turns yellow before the water boils for stupid people"

It turns yellow when it's between 174 and 185 degrees, which is the ideal temp to make coffee. If you go hotter, you will get bitter nasty coffee.

I readily admit that I'm a coffee and whiskey snob.
