Other than the fact I am issued one and have to make it an extension of my hand, the AGB factor is huge. Other than trying to run 1911 length .40 reloads through a G35, and when I tried to make do with some aftermarket magazines in the same gun, I cant recall my 17, 35 or 22 ever malfunctioning with reasonable ammo.
I do prefer a manual safety of some kind like an M&P and glocks tend to hit high for me at longer ranges but I bet my life on them.
AGB= always goes bang

I purchased the glock for function. (And it was a bargain)
I'm having a hard time with it even with my eyes closed though, lol.
That plastic chicken's toe they call a trigger.... [bleep] feels like chit.
I'll shoot it, but my god.... My boy has squirt guns with nicer triggers than this thing.
It hasn't been called a "staple-gun trigger" for nothing. That trigger, is at worst, a two-banana fix. Ask TLee

I think my son uses that one during the Zombie Stage of Call of Duty. Travis

I much prefer the XDs and M&Ps over the Glocks.....just as reliable and much more enjoyable to shoot I like the Glock trigger better than the XD and found my G23 to be much more accurate. My .02. Eric

I don't get it, either.
After quite a bit of research I determined I should buy a Glock. Made a special trip to the GS just for that purpose. After handling what they had on display I left without making any purchase. To my hands, Glock has the most uncomfortable grip imaginable. Well, I suppose they could have made it worse if given enough time and money to do so.
A 1911 it isn't.

I had a G22 20 years ago. It was reliable, held plenty of rounds, was not particularly accurate, and I never could warm up the lack of a manual safety. Sold it. Fast forward to a year ago, I decided I would give a 4th gen G34 a try. 20 years ago, I was smarter than I gave myself credit for... I do still have the G34, but I'll make someone a good deal on it.

Excuse me, takes the weather better than a SIG ? There are a couple of SIG's that are made with heavily phosphated inards and chrome lined barrels. To my knowledge, no Glock is so made. The US Navy Seals use one SIG so made and there is a 220 model in .45 ACP made that way. The 220 SIG I carry is so made. Even their standard designs held up quite well for years of testing by the brit SAS in SE Asia. That's why they use SIG's not Glocks. As far as looks go, that means nothing to me in a serious carry gun. But feel and, above all, handling when under stress really count. E

As I recently posted, I scored a glock 23 .40 recently for a decent price.
Now I have it....
And...
{picture omitted]
I'm finding it very hard to love.
Do I need to shoot it to like it? I mean, is that where the magic is?
I'm not feelin it.
Can't say I blame you. Brother and sister-in-law have Glocks and I don't enjoy shooting them.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.

PS. Replace the factory sights with Trijicons or Mepros!
I was thinking trijicon. Do I have to pack it full of sand, run it over with the truck, throw it off a cliff and soak it in salt water before shooting it? Or is that optional? All three ;o) Enjoy and welcome to the "Dark Side"! PS: I like the trijicons over the mepros

I think they are the easiest shooting handgun that I've used. If I was one that squat to piss I'd likely be concerned about looks.

About the best summary provided, from someone that probably has used one. Simple, rugged and a no frills do it all defense tool. You'd be hard pressed to do much better and could do much worse. Some people go crazy about phosphate coatings and chromed lined barrels, Glock needs no answer to this, they frickin work.

I've carried Glocks for 12 years in every weather imaginable. Mine have always gone bang.
