the one i just started. helping people with money decisions and showing them how to better their lives. i am still an insurance agent but i really enjoy the "in the office taking calls from clients" part because i have always had a desire to make a difference.

i get paid imho more than i should, and i can take off time when i want, they pay for my health insurance, and i can keep half the commission on sales even though i am salaried.

weekends off.

can't complain a damn bit.

What I still do now. Being a Fly Fishing guide from spring to fall in Montana and Alaska. Life is tough when the stressful part of your day is seeing this.

My professional firefighting/ems career. Saw a lot, learned a lot and made me appreciate the calm side of life away from work.

Company commander in the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, CO. Battalion command was almost as fun.

I worked for an ophthalmologist in a little two man optical lab for about 7 years. What made the job great was the doctor I worked for. He was a great boss, very generous, and really cared about his staff. He was an absolute hunting and fishing nut. I was invited up to his farm on Bay Lake (Minnesota) for deer hunts, fishing trips, supper parties. His friends ran the gamut from local wood cutters, to well know Minnesotans. Deer hunted with former Vikings coach Bud Grant one time. It wasn't even so much the hunting stuff as it was the fact that he genuinely cared about his staff. Made coming to work easy and fun. The clinic was moving towards laser surgery, and our little lab was taking up much needed space. I saw the writing on the wall and had a long talk with him over a good bottle of brandy one night. It was hard to leave but the time had come. Doc died this past fall and the funeral was a huge celebration of his life. Happy trails Doc Poland.

After high school and inbetween traveling with a band I worked at this little music shop called pick-n-grin selling drums mostly but I cleaned a little and tuned drums, guitars and such. their tee shirts said worlds smallest drum shop and I pick therefore I grin. My boss came up with those little phases, she was pretty cool and had good taste in music. We would listen to music all day every day, no country or rap, it was great.

While I was in college got a summer job working in a warehouse. Uncle worked
there full time. It was very easy work. Only thing about it was the low pay.

Best I ever had only lasted a few months, about 9 at most. I was tasked with sorting documents that were on an electronic database. I was paid 300/per hour and my time was kept track of by electronic means. I do not sleep much so I was working 20 hours a day sorting those things. I had a couple young attorneys working for me so I had them working almost as much as I was. I paid them 150/hour and billed 300/hour for them. The only catch was I had to wait nearly 2 years to get paid, but it was sweet.
