I'm looking for a 1960-70 vintage Marlin 444 in excellent condition with a pistol grip to give as a retirement gift - anyone got a line on one?
Thanks!

Hi Go to Marlin Owners .com Make your request in the " Firearms for sale or wanted" thread, then watch out for the tidal wave hope that helps good hunting

Gotta have 25 posts to place an add - don't think I have that much to say about that. Thanks for the advice though.

I've got one, but it doesn't meet your vintage requirements and has some where on the underside of the stock. Mine is a '99 (S/N 01XXXXX)
I never thought I'd grow up to be a grumpy old man, but I did, and I'm killin' it.

Thanks WiFowler - want something a bit older (pre-Remington) more in line with the retiree... '99 is pre-Remington. JM stamped barrel makes this one a a true Marlin. Remington took over Marlin (and quality went down the tubes) in late 2007/early 2008.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking for an early one in good shape for $500-600.

Saw one on gunbroker several times for that. Might be one there right now.

Just wondered through GB looking at the 444's. Not too many floating around anymore that don't have that stupid cross bolt safety on them, shame.
Good luck!

It seems more of the pre-safety ones for sale at the moment are straight gripped.
