What does the forum think is better, the new Rem trigger system or the Timney?

does the X-Mark trigger fix all of the supposed faults of earlier 700 factory trigger systems.

Not for me. The last 4-5 XMPs I've had were good triggers, a simple adjustment took all of them to 32-40oz for a very crisp break. You hear enough on the web to realize there must be plenty of duds, but I just havent ran into one on my latest crop of 700s. As far as hunting rigs go, I really don't prefer my custom triggers to the XMP when adjusted properly(even including Jewel). Different strokes for different folks....

Don't know anything about either one but may have to install something on a Rem 700 soon; so am interested to know.

Bob,after I had one Xmark go from 4 to 16 pounds overnight, and another literally break off before it ever got shot, I have made a habit of removing them immediately after purchase. The next four ( after those two), went Bye Bye�.

They are simply garbage waiting for a can�.

I've had two x-mark triggers break at the adjustment screw. Very fragile. I'd never trust one to any serious purpose.

I replaced with Timney flat shoe triggers. Much nicer, night and day.

Dats where mine broke and the smiths remarked that it was quite common�.

I'll take a Shilen over Timney every time, but Timney is still very good compared to XMP

Timney flat trigger. I really like these things,

M/M Your pic reminded me I found the trigger laying on the newspaper under the rifle just from taking the stock off of a stainless SPS and this was back in 2005, with whatever trigger Rem was furnishing then. That led to my first Timney.

The new one with the adjustment thru the trigger shoe is a complete waste of time. I have the first gen xmark on a SS 700 and it is pretty darn nice . That said I might still buy a timney for it.

I love the adjustment screw poking my finger, or grabbing my glove. Good times.

That's how I broke both of mine too. I wasn't even aware anything happened, until I realized I no longer had a trigger shoe. It had to be the slightest of bump that broke them off, just pulling the stock.

I like Remy triggers when they are properly adjusted. Having said that, they are not in the same league with a Timney. There is a reason they cost more, they are worth it IMHO.

Is the Timney a drop in fit or does the stock need to be dremeled a little bit?
